Job Description

Commercial Cleaner/Floater

Our growing number of clients rely on us to keep their spaces clean, safe, and secure. To keep up with demand, we’re looking for friendly and professional team members to join Populist Cleaning Co as dedicated Floaters. A Floater serves a critical role in the company. As a Floater, you’ll be cross trained in many buildings so that you can jump in as needed to cover those jobs.

In addition to the late-model company vehicle you’ll use while on the job, this position also offers health insurance, 401(k), professional development, and career opportunities!

What does our ideal team member look like?

You’re dependable and consistent. Your word means something. When you say you’re going to get it done, others know that you’re serious. With all of the necessary tools and training provided by Populist, plus a company vehicle to use on the job, you know that nothing is going to hold you back.

You aren’t too proud to follow instructions (Maybe you learned that lesson the hard way…. when you TRIED to put together IKEA furniture without reading the booklet). Instead, you know that following the cleaning plan, outlined in the job specifications and data sheet, gets the best results.

You love variety and enjoy a change of pace. You’ll be covering different buildings each day, depending on the client’s needs, other team members needing time off, or to cover open positions. There’s never a dull moment – and you wouldn’t have it any other way!

You appreciate the satisfaction of a job well done. Even when no one is looking, you take pride in the work you do. You enjoy seeing how clean and spotless a space looks, knowing that you made it happen.

What does a typical day in the life of a Floater look like?

Your day begins around 5 or 6pm. Wearing your Populist Cleaning Co attire (uniform apparel is provided) and badge, you’ll report to work at either at a customer’s building, or at the Populist office to pick up the company vehicle, supplies, assignment sheets, data sheets and/or keys for that night’s assignments.

While every day will be different, common tasks include:

Dusting furniture, equipment, partitions, walls, etc.

Cleaning and disinfecting sinks, countertops, floors, toilet, mirrors, tables, chairs, refrigerators, microwaves, etc. in restrooms, break rooms and/or kitchenettes

In addition to the tasks listed above, you will:

Represent the Populist Cleaning Co. brand and standard of professionalism in appearance, conduct, and quality of work.

Clock in and out on a landline phone at each assigned building unless specifically directed otherwise, per the company handbook.

Speak up if you see potential safety or maintenance issues on a customer’s property and communicate them to a Populist Manager.

Perform services to established standards and ensure the client’s facility is locked and secured when you finish and leave.

Carry out special requests for customers as requested by a Populist Manager.

Comply with all safety policies and procedures relating to performance of tasks, use of products or supplies and incident reporting.
