GROUND MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
Full-Time Days

  • JOB SUMMARY

    • The Grounds Maintenance Supervisor is a key person in establishing the first impression with our customers (patients, visitors, city residents, physicians, all CCH staff, and other external customers), by directly establishing and maintaining the external appearance of all CCH grounds and properties to have a positive impact on the public. The Supervisor position is also required to manage the CCH vehicle fleet both by scheduling regular maintenance and required unscheduled repairs. The Supervisor is responsible for the hiring and performance evaluations of the Grounds staff and must work with minimal supervision. The Supervisor must perform all duties required to develop and maintain lawns, landscape areas, trees, shrubs, parking lots, entrances, and other areas, as assigned. During winter months, is responsible for the primary response of workforce for snow removal and other related duties to ensure that all CCH properties are as free as possible of snow and ice in parking lots and walkways. Is responsible to ensure maintenance and repairs are completed on all grounds and snow removal equipment and maintenance records are maintained on each piece of equipment.

  • PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

    • Assist with the hiring, supervision and evaluation of the Grounds Maintenance Techs.

    • Provide guidance / plans for Grounds Maintenance Techs in regards to mowing, trimming, weeding, watering and fertilizing lawn areas, trees and shrubs per schedule. Initiates changes, as needed, to ensure health and appearance of each.

    • Provide input on capital purchase of CCH fleet vehicles as well as on five year master plan for CCH fleet vehicles.

    • Schedule regular maintenance on CCH vehicle fleet, as well as provide un-scheduled repairs for CCH vehicle fleet as they arise.

    • Perform maintenance and repair on sprinkler irrigation systems including wells, valves, electrical boxes, piping, and coverage areas to ensure proper operation of system and effectiveness of sprinkler system.

    • Provide input on how building projects can/will impact site utilities.

    • Mix chemicals as needed for lawn/plant growth and as needed for insect control, as appropriate for the conditions and allowances of the city/county/state. Records data, reports, etc. to maintain chemical inventory and treatments of areas.

    • Provide guidance / plan on Plowing, shoveling, sweeping, de-icing parking lots and sidewalks to ensure as much as possible a safe clean driving and walking surface for patients, visitors and staff.

    • Use personnel protective equipment (PPE) as required for the protection of self and others. PPE includes, but is not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, equipment guards, etc.

    • Coordinates lawn and landscape needs with other duties to ensure that all activities are completed. Prioritizes the scheduling of all duties, activities.

    • Encourages cost savings for the department and organization.

    • Provides excellent customer service, demonstrates professionalism and courteous etiquette.

    • Demonstrates flexibility, positive interpersonal relations in fast paced work environment.

    • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

    • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.
